Do you have your own product or service that you could use some help selling? Can you imagine having a team of salespeople to help you promote your products using the Internet? Did you know that you can actually do this by starting your own affiliate program and that it can be very easy since there is software made just for this? Some of it basically plug-and-play.
Start Your Own Affiliate Program To Attract Influencers
After you are set up with an affiliate program, it’s almost like if you were a Realtor who becomes a Broker, or a Mortgage Representative who becomes a Broker, because now you have the ability to attract team members to help you sell your products and services. How incredible is that? They get to make commissions on your products and services, and you only pay them when they make sales. Isn’t that awesome? Well, here are 14 strategies to consider so you can start and grow your own affiliate program in 2020 along with 21 tools to get you started (below).
Keep In Mind These 10 Strategies When Starting Your Affiliate Program
1. Develop a Product or Service to Offer Online
If you already have a product or service, great! If you don’t, it’s really not that difficult to start your first product or service. There are so many tools available, that’s probably one of the things holding you back (where do I start?!). But the main thing is, you need a product, or at the very least, a product idea that’s in development.
2. Develop a Related Product or Service to Offer
Yes. As soon as possible, you want to have more than one product. There’s got to be something related that you can offer so that you can have the ability to sell more than one thing. And not just that, so that your team of affiliates can also have the opportunity to sell more than one thing. Oftentimes, with information-based products, you can just take one huge product, and break it down in multiple more affordable products. A book can usually be expanded into a course, contracted into multiple booklets, or even talked about on a podcast. There are so many different ways, to literally say the same thing, and go into different details about it, therefore, making all of it valuable and worthwhile. One style is more casual, the other can be more educational, and another entertaining. And to each their own, you can do you however you imagine. That’s one of the reasons you should seriously consider doing something, even if you feel it’s already being done. You likely have a unique spin on it, or can develop this.
3. Develop a Range of Products With Different Price Points
Not only do you want to have loads of free content, because that’s what will attract people into your business, the world of your paid products, but you also want to have a range of products with different price points so that you and your affiliates can drive revenue with products and services that your customers want. This way, everybody can get what they want. And so that all of your fans, from all of their current economic levels, can have an opportunity to be your customer. In my opinion, you want to have lots of awesome free stuff, some paid stuff that’s really affordable (like less than $50), and then you can go up from there depending on the topic and value. But at the end of the day, you choose your pricing. And you can always change it. Here are some numbers I think are fun: free, $7, $9.99, $5/month, $20, $50/month, $99/month, $500/month, $500/week, $297, $97, $37. At the end of the day, you choose your pricing. If you want ideas, check the competition. What are they charging? Do some math, run the numbers. How many customers would you need to make your financial goals?
4. According to the World of Funnel Marketing, The Idea Is To Have An Entry-Level Price, Mid-Range Price, High-Ticket Price, As Well As Recurring Offers
If you can develop all of this, and make it so that your products and services are highly desirable, and worth every stinking penny, then you have yourself the foundation for a wonderful, sustainable, and reliable long-term business. Who’s not to get excited about that? And look, you don’t really HAVE TO have your own products and services because instead, you can just be an affiliate!
Your product can be FREE… Like a free podcast, YouTube channel, blog, newsletter, and the like. THAT can be your product, and you can make your money by actually being an affiliate and selling other people’s stuff. Or, you can do both. Or, you can do neither. The choice is yours, I’m just here to give you some information and maybe a touch of guidance if you want it. But look, I know how sensitive people are these days, so I’m not pushing you to do anything. You do you. If you still want to make your own affiliate program, which I think would be pretty awesome because you would also be creating an opportunity for other people, then please, continue reading below.
If you know that your topic has the potential to have a HUGE audience, as an extreme example we can reference Joe Rogan, who usually sells other people’s stuff through what seems to be direct sponsor deals as well as affiliate marketing. He’s asking you to use coupon codes, so they’re tracking exactly how many sales he’s responsible for. The point being though, if you know you can have a gigantic audience like Joe, then you probably never really have to worry about creating your own products because you’ll do really well with sponsors and affiliate programs. So you don’t HAVE TO start your own affiliate program, and you can still have a very successful business! Or, you can. And you can do both, too.
5. Develop an Affiliate Program With A Generous Payout Program
Once you have your products and look, it can be as simple as a .mp3 file you recorded on Quicktime, a voice note on your smartphone, a .pdf you pieced together on Notepad, or a .mp4 file you recorded on selfie mode with your phone. Yeah! It doesn’t have to be hard, we usually only make it that way with our heads and our self-defeating belief systems, but that’s okay because everybody already knows that, right?
But once you have your files arranged and renamed, you can high-five yourself because this means you’re somewhat organized, so now you can upload them to your store and set a commission on them for your team of affiliates. This will be very exciting for them, as they can earn commissions on products that they didn’t even have to develop because you did it for them. And now you’re going to pay them when and only when (actually after) they make a sale for you.
That’s right, they’ll send you traffic, and more traffic, and more traffic, and hopefully, it will cause sales to occur. If not, you might need to open up that Notepad again, or the selfie stick. Or maybe just edit your sales page. Not sure yet, right? Anyway, pay your affiliates well! With the software, you can set different commissions for all of your products. It’s really fun, too, because you’re creating opportunities for others!
6. Make It Easy for Your Affiliates To Promote Your Products
Sometimes this is not that obvious. Making it easy for your affiliates means reminding them that you exist, that your products are available to promote, and catering to their needs. Make it easy for them to create links and try not to change things up on them too much as far as affiliate management software goes. If you can, make customizations for each of your affiliates to help them convert sales better. Do whatever little thing you can, to make improvements to your system, because it’ll pay off exponentially later. Also, continue developing more products for your affiliates to be able to promote. Collaborate with them, even, to do this. Find out what their readers, listeners, and subscribers are into and what they need and who knows, maybe you can develop the perfect new product for them.
7. Create Content That Your Affiliates Can Easily Share
Give them all of the information they need from product details, copywriting, sales material, graphics, banners, ads, emails, testimonials, images, videos, podcasts, and the like. Whatever tools that would help, be sure that it’s easily available for them. If you have any pre-written articles they can use, make sure these are available to them with their affiliate links on them. If they run a podcast, see if you can be a guest and promote your products using their affiliate code! This will not only create new content, but it will also introduce you personally to their fanbase. How awesome is that? You can grow your audience this way, introduce them to your free material, and maybe even welcome them as paying customers for your products and services. Another wonderful thing you can do for your affiliates is to create eBooks for them that they can give away to their readers and fans. And, of course, you will want to customize the eBook so that it contains their custom affiliate link inside, so that when they give away this book, if it happens to link and mention your paid products and services, it gives your affiliates the opportunity to earn sales commissions. Very cool, right? And you can even do the same thing with a video, article, or other media like PDF or audio file.
8. Use Software To Make Affiliate Management A Breeze (Or Partner With A Known Network)
There are dozens of companies out there who offer solutions to this. It’s so easy these days to create your own affiliate program online, it’s easy and affordable, too. With this in place, you are creating an opportunity for others to promote your products and get paid for doing so. How cool is that?
9. Actively Attract Super-Affiliates to Your Program
- Develop sales contests
- Create incentives and milestones
- Reward results, bonuses for reaching certain milestones
10. Grow And Expand Your Products And Offers
- Consider taking your products into multiple platforms
- Consider taking your product into a new language and country
- Consider re-packaging your product for related but more-specific niches
- Create industry-specific, and even problem-specific landing pages and sales pages for your offers (your affiliates will appreciate this highly, and so will your bank account)
